Reading is a great to reduce stress and take your mind to whole new, unimaginable worlds without the need to get on a plane.
Reading helps us to learn, not only through non-fiction books (however interesting they are) but by developing vocabulary, empathy and our emotional responses.
We are passionate about looking after our mental health and wellbeing and believe reading is a healthy way to calm the mind and escape for a little while.
Our aim is to connect people over books. Whether you’re an avid reader or someone who wants to read more, we want to come together and share; share our thoughts on books, a glass of wine, how our days have been and our big life events!
As a book club we believe that all communities should give back, so we are pledging 20% of our profit to the charity, Doorstep Library.
For many of us, reading as children was a big part of our routine. Before school, in school or even at bedtime. Even though we may have loved hearing stories, for many of us, this was to learn the practical skill of reading so we could grow-up and read bills, menus and flat pack instruction manuals!
We want to turn that around and make books something we can’t put down and want to talk to others about. Let's get lost in stories again and allow reading to become fun, as well as a functional skill that we all need in order to read instructions on how to build a wardrobe!
